When the owner of a public calendar sets up automatic formatting for her own
primary calendar, is it also possible to set up different automatic
formatting rules that would apply to the public calendar wthout interferring
with her primary calendar?  Are there any known issues with this?

Autoformattingi s just part of a custom view - so it can be applied to any
calendar and won't affect anything but the view. So.. yes, it can apply to
one calendar and not the other - just make a new view using a new name - and
no, there are no known issues with it.
