I'm using Outlook XP and I want to open my calendar and have the current week
at the top of the screen, instead of the first of the month (past dates
included) .  I'm not interested in what happened in the past.  I'd like to
see what is coming up.

Outlook doesn't support that - you'll need to use the week or work week
view.
