I monitor the schedule of a very busy person. I would like to be able to have
his calendar on Outlook 2003 (Exchange 2003) give me popup reminders, but I
don't wish to see them come up on my personal calendar.
I understand that only the main calendar will show popups, so I assume that
this can only be done by making the boss's calendar the main calendar. Can
this be done, and if so, how?

You can't make the boss' calendar the default.  You can, however, see if a
tool like this can help: http://www.slovaktech.com/remindermanager.htm
