RUSS.....HELP GIGGLE
Ok I have read all the threads concerning my issue.  Here are the details.
My office utilized Office Prof 2003 - my house utilizes Office Xp.  I realize
I have to create a new 2000-2002 pst file.  And have done so using Office
2003.  I am now creating a file called "carriers" and as i type it is
exporting the information to the file.  I apologize for my ignorance but do
not know how else to save information other than import/export.  I noticed
that you indicated it "is not the way to back up" but why have that feature
then?  and how else would I perform this task?  I tried to import my contacts
and it was  bust, obviously due to the pst file.  So I vcarded about 300+
contacts.  CANNOT DO THAT FOR CALENDAR or saved emails that are organized in
foldes.  Now that I have created the file, and exporting the info, and
created an older version of pst, what do i do when i get to the pc with the
xp version to load the file?

I'm not Russ but maybe I can help....

You can open the PST file on the other machine using the File menu > Open >
Outlook Data File command. Once it's open you can drag/drop data from it to
your standard folders

Right-click on each folder and drag it to the new PST.  Choose Copy.  Do NOT
export.  You will lose some data.

There are specific purposes to export that don't include backup.

Drag-and-drop.

Copy it to some location on the other PC, taking care not to overwrite any
existing PST of the same name.  Make sure the PST you copied is not
read-only, and then in Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to
the PST, select it, and click OK.
