We use the calendar - but on the weekly view, the Saturday and Sunday are
smaller and that is when we need them to hold more information.

We are usiing Outlook - I guess the latest version.

Right-click your calendar body and choose Other Settings.  Uncheck the box
labeled "Compress weekend days".

Right.  The Work Week and Month views are affected by the setting, correct?

Yes, I simply presumed the user was using the 7 day view of the week.
Changing how weekends are displayed is easily discoverable in other views -
changing it in the 7 day view is not as it does not exist.
