Why do my New Appointment drop down menus dissappear?

I have Office 2003 and, recently, I can't get the New Appointment drop down
menus to work. When I click the little black downward arrow head, the drop
down menu appears, but when I slide over to the desired day or time the menu
closes. I can type the information directly into the line and that works, but
that is tedious when I am adding lots of new appointments.
I performed a "detect and Repair" using my Office CD, but that didn't fix it.
I use Spybot and wonder if that is doing something.
I have played around with the Tools -> Customize -> Options and again the
problem persists.
Please help.

I finally fixed this. The problem was caused by an X mouse setting. I don't know
how it got changed in the first place, but it works now. There was never anything
wrong with my Outlook Calendar.
