If a recurring meeting is rescheduled or revised to have a new phone number,
then I accept the new schedule.  I now have a double entry for the remaining
meetings of the first schedule.  When I delete the original meeting schedule,
it deletes all the meetings in the past too, meetings I attended and may want
a record of.  The rescheduled meeting should allow a merge of overlapped
meetings and thus not double the schedule.  Deleting a series may work
correctly, but what method is used to replace future meetings in the series?

It sounds like you should be UPDATING the original meeting by changing
the end date to "The day you last went to that meeting". If you are the
organizer, be sure to send this update to everyone so their meetings show
the history and stop on the correct day.

Then a new series should be created.
