My company has two building locations about .8 miles apart.  Not very far but
far enough to make an impact if you have meetings back-to back.  Especially
since one would like to mimize moving from building to building.

My question is:  When an appointment is created can a new field and color be
added to the drop down box of the "show time as".  What I would like to do is
add the field of "building X" and have a seperate color associated with the
building so that it is obvious where the meeting is without looking at
details.

I understand that there is a seperate Location field.  However, most of the
people in my company do not allow others to "veiw" their calendar so if one
is setting up a meeting the only way to view if someone is busy is under the
"scheduling" tab.  Under that tab is where you see the color of how something
is blocked off.  This way if I could add my custimized color one could see
what building another person is in.

No, that's not possible.
