I have several recurring events that I have tried unsuccessfully to delete.
I have tried the "remove recurrence" button.  I have tried making an "end by
date" of the next week.  I have tried deleting them and "deleting all
occurences".  They just won't go away.  HELP!  My calendar is becoming
useless.

This should work, although you should see "delete the series" instead of
"delet all occurences".  What happens when you tell Outlook to delete the
series?  Do you get any error messages?

Try viewing the appointment and deleting it that way.  Under view,
choose "events."  Then you can search for the event and delete it once
and for all.

Hope this works for you!
