I followed the directions in Help to autoarchive appointments older than 36
months.  But they're still there.  How can I get rid of them?

Autoarchive works on date last modified not the date of the meeting in the
Calendar.

Try this:

change to the By Category View of the Calendar and then sort by date.
Select all the "old" meetings and drag to the Archive Calendar (or delete
them).
