Cannot open or save items in my outlook 2003 calendar

All of a sudden I can no longer save or open existing items in Outlook 2003

One of my coworkers has the same experience, also outlook 2003 calendar, also
started a couple of days ago.  Help?

it self-corrected after 2 days for some unknown reason - maybe there is a
virus lurking somewhere?
