cant delete or open appointment

We are using outlook 2003 in exchange environment. User can create a
re-occurring appointment but once created cant open it. The user she sends it
to is also getting the same error. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

can't open this item. Object cannot be found is the exact error message.
