Is there a way to go to a specific date just by typing it in?  Without having
to scroll through the months?  Like a go to button or some quick way to move
to another date in another year fast?

Press CTRL+G to activate the "Go to Date". You can type in a date in a
standard format, select a view, and then press Enter.
