Can't Open recurring Appts in 2007 on new Vista Dell

My wife is running Vista Home Premium, on a brand-new Dell.  I installed
Office Professional Plus 2007, and used the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for
Windows Vista to copy all of her files and settings over.

All of her appointments are an hour late.  She can move most appointments to
the correct time.  But any time she tries to move a recurring item, she gets
this message:

"Cannot open this item.  You changed one of the recurrences of this item,
and this instance no longer exists. Close any open items and try again."

It's her calendar.  Nobody else made any changes, and there are no other
instances open.  I've read of people having this problem in a corporate
environment, and the recommended solution was waiting a little while and
trying again.  But that doesn't help here.  Is there anything she can do to
be able to modify these appointments?

The hour problem is also strange.  Both her new and old Dells are set for
Pacific Time, and every time she'd send me an appointment, it would come into
my calendar at say 10, when it should have been 9.  Short of switching her to
the time zone West of San Francisco, is there any way to get all of her other
appointments to the right time?

Thanks.
Ron

are you sure the time zone *and* DST settings are identical?

I _was_ sure they were the same, but my confidence was misplaced.  On her XP
box, she had NOT checked "automatically adjust clock for daylight savings
changes."  That probably was the source of the one-hour problem.  But
thinking back, when daylight savings started, she had to undo it, because
when it kicked in, everything was off by an hour.  Not switching was the only
way she could avoid that problem.  So who knows how THAT got started.  But
I'm confident that if she leaves the new machine to automatic DST, she won't
have the hour problem any more.  If you do know any ways to adjust a lot of
appointments by one hour, I'd love to hear them.

Any thoughts on the recurring appointments (and she has a lot) that she
can't edit?
Thank you very much for the help so far!

it sounds like the problems go back to the DST changes that went into effect
in March.  Since it's vista, she shouldn't have any problems with the new
DST periods as vista fully supports them.

I also believe the hour issue has to due with the patch that was suggested
by Microsoft back in March to account for the change in DST.

As far as the recurring appointments, my guess is that it has something to
do with the Belkin Easy Transfer.  I have no experience with it so as I say
I am guessing.  If it was me I would reinstall Office and the COPY the PST
file from the old machine to the new machine.

The DST changes in March would only affect appointments during the 'Delta'
periods in spring and fall (the gap between when the clocks would have
changed under the old system as opposed to when they will change).

This sounds more like behaviour that's always existed: if you schedule
meetings with one set of TZ/DST settings, they will appear different on a
machine with different TZ/DST settings.  Sometimes this goes unnoticed
because for six months of the year the 'with' DST/'without' DST settings are
effectively the same.
