Can I color code each day to match a firefighter's shift calendar?

I would like to color code each day in outlook (just the background) so that
it matches the firefighter's shift schedule of gold - black - red.  please
help!

Version of outlook? In 2007 you could do it using color categories but
offhand, I don't know if labels in 2003 would meet your needs. No way to do
it in older versions.
