Delete/edit labels for events

Using Outlook 2007 now but I'm working with the same basic .pst events going
back to Outlook 2000, or whatever it was called back then. Over the years I'd
used labels extensively to achieve automatic formattting. Somehow, the labels
are a mess. Some events have one list of labels to choose from, others have
another, and so on. Where the heck all these lists came from, I don't know,
as some appear to be canned and others clearly mine.

The upshot of this is, I'd like to delete all labels or at least make them
all default to None, in one fell swoop. I'm syncing with Windows Mobile now
and those labels are giving me fits in some programs that use the default WM5
database.

Is there an easy way to do this? I don't mind exporting events and working
with a new .pst if need be.

Thanks,

Since Outlook 2007 doesn't use labels, I assume you mean categories. If you display all the items in a table view, you can select them all, click the Categories button on the toolbar, then Clear All Categoriies.

That's just it, in table view there *is* a column for labels. Categories,
too, and those are just fine. It's that 'Label' column I want to toss
completely. I didn't even realize it was there (never use table view) until I
went in search of whatever it is that's messing up my mobile data.

Since you shouldn't be seeing that data any other place than in a table view, you could just remove that column from the view if it annoys or confuses you.

Or, group by the Label field, and drag all items to the (None) group.

It wasn't giving me trouble within OL, just when I was using plug-ins and
other apps on my PPC with Windows Mobile 5. Other apps were attempting to
make use of that information and it was causing a mess.

I did end up doing the drag-to-None group and that seems to have solved the
problem. Thanks for the tip!
