Meeting Responses Not Tracking

Have a situation where Meeting Responses are not tracking.  I have consulted
these communities as well as other forums on the Internet and have been
unable to find a resolution to this issue.

Particulars: Exchange 2000 / Outlook 02-07

The meeting responses are being sent and being received.  When they are
received, they are not being processed by a rule that is moving them into a
different folder.  Yet they are not tracking.  I can open each receipt and
close it, I can mark it as read, makes no difference, they still are not
showing on the tracking tab.  I have verified that all of the options in
Outlook are correct based on other posts in these forums.

I have even checked the Exchange forums and have been unable to find a
resolution.  Any other ideas or solutions that someone may have run across?

When you say "I can open each receipt and close it...", are the organizer of
these meetings or are you opening someone elses responses?
If these are someone elses responses, are you accessing them through
your own profile or are you creating a profile to process them?

Thank you for the response and sorry that part wasn't clear.  I should have
said that the organizer can open and close the message (meaning they are
processing it as read).  We really don't use delegate scenario's with
meetings.  Each person organizes their own so there are no additional
profiles to worry about.

So if you are opening the responses from the INBOX and they are
not being talleyed, then...

Have you checked the "Delivery Location" of the email account?
Could the Calendar, that the meeting is being made in, be in a PST
or a secondary calendar on the clients system?

If the calendar is not the "System" calendar, then responses will not
be talleyed. They also will not be talleyed if the delivery point is set
for a PST.

To check the "Delivery Location" in OL2003:
Open the TOOLS menu
Select E-MAIL ACCOUNTS
Select VIEW OR CHANGE EXISTING E-MAIL ACCOUNTS
   then click NEXT
Near the bottom of this window will be a small text box with the title:
"Deliver new e-mail to the following location"

Another thing to check is if the client is set up in CACHE MODE,
is the synchronization working correctly? You may look to see if the
client has a corrupt OST file.

Another thought, a little out there but...
Could your client have a DELEGATE she has set up incorrectly?

I have many clients that try to give others VIEW to their calendar
by using the DELEGATION tab. This is incorrect but they do it.
They should give permissions to their calendar by right-clicking on
the calendar folder and setting it in the properties.

Nikki:

Thank you for your continued assistance.  There are no delegates and the
delivery of the messages is not going to a personal folder.  The calendar is
also the Mailbox calendar, not a PST calendar.  This is a perplexing issue I
know.

Is this happening with ALL clients or just particular ones, or just one?

When you say they are not tracking, do you mean:

- The Free/Busy on the server is not showing or
- The Accept/Decline is not showing on the meeting itself or
- Both...

Have you changed your system lately?
Is your Exchange up to date in patches?

The Free/Busy is showing fine.  The Accept/Decline is what is not showing.  I
can open the meeting and manually change the receipient responses, but it is
not calculating them automatically.  Exchange is up to date with all patches
and we haven't made any changes.

As long as the meeting responses are being read/opened while they
are in the INBOX (not moved to somewhere else), and the system
files are in the mailbox on the server (not a pst), then I see no reason
for the responses not to be talleyed.

There are only two suggestions that I have for you:
1) Copy all of the mailbox items into a PST and delete the mailbox,
then recreate the mailbox and import all the items back into the
new mailbox. You may even need to delete the Active Directory
   account.
or
2) Call Microsoft and open an incident with them. They are better
equipted to handle problem of this magnitude.

If you have not tried this yet, you may want to first try rebuilding the
clients Microsoft Office Outlook. Be sure to delete all files that are
not refreshed with a rebuild.

Outlook rebuild: Files a Rebuild will not fix:

An update to Outlook may fix it. And/Or a rebuild of your Outlook profile.

However, you would need to find ALL files that effect the view on your
system and replace them.

A simple reinstall will not clean these files up. Close Outlook first, then:

a.. Search your hard drive for *.ost and delete all found (Be sure to
search in hidden files)
b.. Search your hard drive for Outcmd.dat and delete it. (This file holds
your customized toolbar settings)
c.. Search your hard drive for Views.dat and delete it. (This file holds
your customized system folder views settings)
d.. Search your hard drive for extend.dat and delete it. (this file holds
your Installed add-ins information)
e.. 2003: Outlook.xml  (This file includes Shortcuts, Calendar, and
Contact links.)
a.. The navigation pane settings are profile-specific and are stored in
an .xml file with the profile name, in the Application Data\Outlook folder.
To clear all navigation pane customizations, start Outlook once with the
/resetnavpane switch.
Try opening Outlook again using the switch :

a.. /CleanViews Restores default views. All custom views you created are
lost.
b.. /ResetOutlookBar Rebuilds the Outlook Bar.
Some of the folders might be hidden folders. To view them, do one of the
following:

Windows XP

1.. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2.. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, click the View tab, and then
click the Show hidden files and folder option.
Windows 2000

1.. Double-click My Computer on your desktop.
2.. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, click the View tab, and then
click the Show hidden files and folder option.

Eric - I am having the same exact problem with my calendar.  If you have
found a solution, I would very much appreciate knowing how you resolved the
issue.
