Is it possible to sync info from an internet calendar such as google calendar
to the main outlook calendar in Outlook 2007?

Alternatively, how do I get an iCal (i.e.google calendar) to sync with the
main calendar so that it syncs with my smart phone, specifically, an iPhone?

No to syncing with the main calendar. Unless the iphone software supports
other folders or syncing with google, you can't sync it to the google
calendar. I believe the google calendar can be accessed on mobile devices
though...

Two products immediately come to mind:

- SyncMyCal (http://www.syncmycal.com).

- gSyncit (http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync).
