I had been using a stand alone appointment scheduling program in my
accounting office. We recently have shared our Outlook 2003 calendar to take
the place of the other program. I do miss just having a database with the
client name & contact information for scheduling appts. Is there a way to set
up Outlook to have the client contact info available in a folder or database
of some type?

Shared your Calendar using what?
you can find some applications to share Outlook data without Exchange here:

The Lite version of OsaSync will do up to 4 PC's for free.
