I would like to set up a meeting invitation that tracks polling:  I will
bring a guest or come alone or not come at all.  How do I do that?

At least for me, you'll have to explain more completely what you mean by
this.  Include your Outlook version in your reply.

I am sending out a meeting invitation, actually an event invitation.  I would
like to the set up the meeting such that respondants have a choice including:
I will attend and come alone; I will attend and bring a guest; I cannot
attend.  Based on the responses, I would like to know how who has responded
and how many people will attend.  Basically I want to do what an evite allows
you to do.

Send the meeting invite and include an email message with voting buttons.  You cannot combine the two but you can request that the responders both accept/decline the meeting and respond to the email.

Alternatively, you may find an answer in one of the programming groups if you are handy with code.  See http://www.outlookcode.com to see if anyone has a handy code sample for what you want to do.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.

After furious head scratching, Kristin asked:
