Hi! I can import Excel data into Outlook calendar fine EXCEPT that I cannot
get any data into the existing "label" field in Outlook.

When I import I do NOT see a Label field in Outlook to map to even though it
is already in Outlook (and not a custom field)

Can any of you MVP's for Outlook explain how I can do this OR why I cannot?
Thanks!

It would help if you told us your version of Outlook.

Ooops! it is version 2003 ...
What I *want to do* is to automatically color appointments with the Label
colors I had assigned to clients.

I did a "work around" in a column view of my appointments where I could add
the label field and then just selected the appropriate label but....is there
a less work intensive way?

thanks!

That option is not available in Outlook 2003.

Yeah! I did find a way to automatically color appointments with the Customize
current view feature.

For other readers here is what I did.....I modified my excel import file to
include the column "categories" a standard import field in Outlook. Next I
imported the records into a Day/week/month - this circumvented the no Label
field.

Finally I used the "customize current view" feature to automatically format
with an "advanced tab" rule such that if the category contained Client A name
then the format should use the label color for the same client.  Naturally, I
had already set t he label colors up first. I ended up with rule for each
client.  Now when I import from Excel all my appointments are immediately
color coded so I don't need to do each one manually in Outlook. A timesaver
for me
