appointment splits into two when typing into outlook

When typing an appointment into outlook the appointment suddenly splits into
two and begins a new appointment! Does anyone know how to stop this from
happening??

Without more information, we have no clue.

Is it an event that extends over multiple days? A recurring event? does this
happen before you save and close it or after?
