I have a recurring appointment that started in July 2007 and goes through
every month to July 2009.  I want to change all appointments from March 2008
on to a different day of the month, but i don't want the change to effect the
Jan or Feb 2008 meeting.  Is it possible to do this without cancelling the
first recurring meeting and setting up a new meeting?

No. You need to end the recurrence of the current appointment in Feb and
create a new appointment for Mar onwards.
