holiday update for 2008 for Outlook 2000

I have installed the holiday file, but obviously did not do something right
in Outlook. I placed the outlook2012.hol file in the c:\program
files\microsoft office\ofice\1033 directory and saw the old outlook.txt file,
but am confused as to whether I am supposed to rename the new file to
outlook.txt? When I tried to install holidays from Outlook it simply added
them again to 2007 and back. When I renamed the old outlook.txt file to
something else thinking it would automatically find outlook2012.hol, it asked
for the install disk and added the 2007 and older holidays again. Please
help...

the outlook2012.hol file is for newer versions of outlook (not for Outlook
2000). You (and me) need to find the updated outlook.txt file; I haven't
found it on Microsoft's website...

there is a txt version here:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/missinghol.htm#hol

however... the hol is just a text file with a different filename.... so you
just have to change the filename to outlook.txt. If your version uses ANSI
encoded texts, open it in notepad and resave as ANSI encoding.

you need to rename it - however, depending on your version, the file may not
work since yours uses ANSI file format and the HOL is probably unicode.
Rename it to outlook.txt and try it - if it fails, open it in notepad and
resave as ANSI text format. (It should fail if you have outlook 2000.)

to save as ansi, from notepad's file, save as menu, choose ANSI encoding and
save as outlook.txt.

http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/missinghol.htm#hol has a ANSI version of
the file - but since you already have the file, you really don't need to
download it again.
