Reminders when Outlook is closed

I use Outlook for my calendar, but not my e-mail, so I only open the program
every few days.  I want to be able to use the reminders for tasks and
appointments.  It only shows them when I open Outlook (and they are usually
past due by then).  I have found how to get Outlook to open when I start my
computer, but I can't get it to display any current reminders without opening
the program.  Is there a way to do this?  I am running Windows Vista Home
Premium with Outlook 2007.

Outlook needs to be running to trigger reminders. since you only use it for
calendar and tasks, the vista calendar might meet your needs - and it will
fire reminders when closed.

Does XP pro have this same calendar feature?

Every version of Outlook must be open to fire reminders.

only vista has a calendar utility. It looks very much like outlook 2007's
calendar. Earlier versions of windows do not have a calendar utility.

Windows XP doesn't have a calendaring tool.
