reminder does not open if selected from sent items

Hi

when we set a reminder from sent items , it does not ring but when the same
is applied from inbox the reminder works perfectly

can u tell me is there a setting required to turn it on or can u assist me
how to set it

i do not want to use a calender or else .

I don't believe Sent Items allows reminders without a third-party add-in
like http://www.slovaktech.com/extendedreminders.htm
