My boss just replaced his computer and each time he makes a new appointment,
it automatically becomes a reoccuring appointment  and he has to remove the
recurrence each time.  We can't find why they become reoccuring in the first
place.

Dell did it. From Brian Tilman's post of June 2007,
Open Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs applet.
Look for the Cyberlink Outlookaddinsetup application.
Uninstall it.
