Automatic appointment acceptance option is turned off, however, everytime I
open an appointment, it puts it on my calendar.  How can I turn this off?

Appointments you open will ALWAYS show on your calendar, but they will be
shown as "Tentative" until you accept them, unless you have automatic
acceptance enabled.
