At home, I shut down laptop. Came to office and started. Didn't look at
calendar.
Added a date to calendar, but didn't notice anything. Couple hours later, I
went to check appt time in May. All info is gone including recurring
events/appts.
How do I restore all this information?
I don't think its anything you did-Microsoft has major problems and choices
to ignore them....I too had the same thing happen-on phone with verizon
wirelesssync one night and all of a sudden the phone and outlook were syncing
and the calendar just disappears-when I called Microsoft they say not a
problem, they'll fix it but it will cost me $59-how sweet of them-don't you
think?

So, when a user pushes the wrong button or chooses no instead of yes, it is Microsoft's fault? Must be an interesting sky in the world where you live.
To the OP, what are your synch settings on your device? Is Activesync set to override desktop, device, or do nothing?
