When I select a date in the future and make an appointment on that date by
clicking on a time for the appointment, the appointment disappears from the
future date and appears on the current date.   Any ideas?

Reset the view and clear the forms cache.

http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/resetview.htm

clear forms cache:
On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Other tab, and then click
Advanced Options, Custom Forms, Manage Forms.
Click Clear Cache. Ok your way out of the dialogs and restart Outlook 2003.

Thanks for the suggestion!  I tried it and I still had the same problem;
however, I looked at the page you referenced in your email and it suggested I
reset all the defaults with Start|Run|outlook.exe /cleanviews and that worked
fine!   Thanks again...JCPFF
