Please add a reminder function: easily available like creating a note, but
that acts like a personal zero-duration appointment. It takes way too many
keystrokes to do it manually using the appointment process.
Ideally a hot key combination would bring up a window with clickable
timeline, calander and text field, no clutter. Provide a <Private> click
box, but I should be able to set a default.

and if using outlook 2007, you have the calendar in the to-do bar. :)
Outlook is not an alarm clock. Another quick reminder method is flags - set
a flag on any item. Assuming Outlook 2007, you can right click on the flag
field and choose Custom. Type a note in the Follow up field and set the date
and reminder time.

While I'm not trying to disparage your suggestion, there are so many free
reminder tools available for download from the Internet that I'd rather the
Outlook team spend its time on more productive features.
