I'm getting post reminders (Outlook/2002) after a calendar
appointment has been 'dismissed' and I can't seem to find
a fix for it. Can anyone provide some insight on how to
overcome this issue.

Try starting Outlook once with the /CleanReminders switch.  If you need help
using Outlook command line switches, look here:
