Problems importing calendar file

I can'timport my backup copy of the calendar file on
another machine.

It exported OK (and I can retrieve it again on the same
machine) but I get an error message trying on a different
machine - "no properties defined for this information
service".

Makes the backup pretty useless!!

Any ideas how I can import it.

I assume you are using a .PST file? Can you simply open it in Outlook using
File | Open?

Thanks for your response.

I have tried opening a file today but the data doesn't
seem to be transferred - I can't see it on screen at all.
I'll try with the real file at home tonight/tomorrow.

One other piece of info., the data in the original outlook
calendar was created by synchronising with another
calendar (psion). I don't know if this has anything to do
with the problem.

Any suggestions appreciated!!

Make sure the .PST file isn't marked read only before you try to open
it...and make sure you only try to open it WITH Outlook (using File | Open |
Outlook Data File...or Personal Folders File, depending on your Outlook
version). If you try to open it in Windows, you risk file corruption.

Thanks for you response Jocelyn.

I have successfully opened the file on the machine here at
work.

I tried it first without doing anything, and got the same
error message ("Properites for this information service
must be defined prior to use").

However, it was a "read only" file and, once I changed
that, Outlook was able to import it.

I'll check that I can now do this at home and let you know
if there's any problem, but I doubt it.

What I find so annoying is that the "error message" gives
you no clue to the problem!! What has defining properties
got to do with needing the file not to be marked read
only - well, maybe there's a tenuous link!
