Cannot accept invitation sent with internet mail. I only
get message or a .txt file. Can it work?

You need to inform the sender to send using RTF and to force RTF on the
invitation.  Double click on the recipients address and select properties.
On the ensuing page, check the box at the bottom to always send using RTF.

In addition to Milly's suggestion, ask the sender if they can send you an
iCal file.
