I am using Outlook 2002.
How can I keep the weekends from being displayed in the
month view?

You can't make them disappear completely, but you can compress them so
they share one block if you want.  Right-click in a blank space on the
calendar, select Other Settings, and in the month section, check the box
for "Compress weekend days".

I thought I came across a posting a few weeks ago that
mentioned how to display only the week days in the month
view.

Not possible.  You may have misread something about the work week but months
will always show the full week.
