How do I invite a public calendar to an appointment so
the appointment will show up in the public calendar?

You can't b/c there is no mechanism for that public calendr to accept your
meeting request.

Yes, you can. We're doing it now. In an Exchange environment, the calendar
already has an email address (though it may be hidden from the GAL). Simpy
invite the public folder (calendar) as a Resource.

Sorry I can't be more specific, Jeff. I had to get our Exchange Admin to
set this up for us. But I think the meeting acceptance is automatic.

I have tested this several times and can't get it to work. I can sent the
meeting request to the PF Calendar but nothing happens. I checked the PF
Calendar and my meeting does not show up there.

Ok, this is an attempt to clarify what everyone is saying. A calendar in a
"Public Folder" does not have the mechanism to book/make an appointment, send
a email, etc. It is because it is a Folder. Folders just simply contain
files and folders. If you create an Exchange email account for the
Conference Room then open up Outlook under the Conference Room profile, go to
Tools > Options > Calendar Options > Resouce Scheduling > check mark the
items you want the account to use > Set permissions > Permissions Tab to set
permissions for people. This will allow to have the best of both worlds...a
"Public Calendar" not a "Public Folder" for internal Exchange users and a
calendar that will automatically book the appointment because it resides in
the Information store for Exchange. You can also look at Free/Busy
information this way. A Public folder calendar does not offer Free/Busy
information because, again, it does not have the mechanism to do that. There
are some good Q articles on the Microsoft Website. I just searched for
"Resource Scheduling". I also found some great information by searching the
www.slipstick.com website. I hope this information helps. Something else,
the Conference Room email account must be booked as a "Resource" or it will
not make the appointment. The Conference Room account can be hidden from the
GAL or not, but if it is supposed to be a "Public" thing, I would allow it to
be published.
