ERROR: cannot locate recurrence information

I am running Windows XP Pro SP1, Outlook 2003, Intellisync for Palm.

I have had this same configuration of hardware/software for some time - with
no problem.  Recently, I began getting the infamous "cannot locate recurrence
information for this appointment" error message everytime I open up Outlook.
Any idea what is causing this, or what to do about it?

I have read about using the resetfolders /cleanreminders /cleanfreebusy
commands - if I do this will it clear ALL my reminders from my calendar?  I
can't afford to do this.  Besides, that does not answer the question of what
is causing this error.

Any thoughts?
Has anyone had any luck, or anything they tried that did NOT work?

Ok, I used the Cleanreminders command and now get a "Cannot start the
reminder service.  Unable to show reminders" error.

What do I try next?
