Can I stop the shared calendar sending hundreds of messages?

Once I have shared the outlook calendar with other members of the office it
sends hundreds of e-mail updates for the calendar to others even though I
have not made any updates.

Net Folders are notoriously troublesome and have been put out of their
misery in later versions of Outlook.  See if any of the suggestions in this
article help.
