I have some people telling me that meeting requests are not going directly
into their calendar when they arrive.  They said they have to click on them
for  them to be in the calander.  They told me this is not how it is supposed
to work.
How is it supposed to work?

Depends on how they have their calendar set up to work.  I have mine set to
automatically accept meeting requests, decline conflicts and recurring
meetings.  Look under Tools->Options->Calendar->Resource Scheduling to set
it up.

I have found this information:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-
us/assistance/HA011276781033.aspx

But it is supposed to put a tentative meeting on your
calendar by default, then why is it that it does not show
up unless my clients view the msg in the preview pane
(not read it just view it. i.e. no read recipt was sent)

We are having the same issue with Outlook 2003 SP1 running on Exchange 2000.
The meeting is not getting added to the calendar as Tentative unless the user
opens the meeting manually.  The meeting request is staying in the Inbox, it
is not getting moved out by a rule.  Cannot find a solution.
