I have followed the instructions to have Outlook Journal record word and
excel items for all of my contacts.  I did a test letter to a contact, saved
in My Documents on my  C drive.  The letter is not recorded in Activities/All
Items or Journal or anywhere that I can see.  What's missing?

I don't understand what you mean.  Further research told me that this was a
glitch in office 2003... So I didn't even check back here.  But, if you have
a way around this, please, I'd love to know.
