After setting all other details of an event or appointment, I then type
additional message in the BODY or INFORMATION box at the bottom of the event
creation box.  How do I change the default font for the information in that
BODY or INFO box (or whatever it is called)?

I know how to change it for that particular event, but I wish to change it
for all events, that is, change the default font.

It's the same as the font set in Tools | Options | Mail Format

Thank you so much.  That's so easy.  I don't know, however, why Outlook
automatically makes the assumption that the font I choose for email is also
the font I want for the extra information in my calendar events.

Anyway, thank you very much.

If you want to use a different font for mail, try setting up custom
stationery with that font.
