It would be nice to permanently change the default reminder time .

Does anybody know if you can change the default reminder time from 15 minutes
to something else like 1 day?

While in the calendar, click on tools, options, preferences... under calendar
you can change default reminder setting.

Can I shut the reminder off for all new appointments in this same way?  It
doesn't appear so.....

Click Tools>options and uncheck "Default reminder"
