How can I add 45 days to a known date to establish a due date?

In other calendar systems, I have been able to add a certain amount of days
to a known date in order to figure out the date on which a project is due. Is
this something that can be done in Outlook?

Where are you trying to add the 45 days?  Appointments?  Tasks?  What version of Outlook?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.  Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After a lot of head-scratching, wgpc asked:
