New appointment disappears from view

I create a new appointment but as soon as I click off it (or 'save and
close') it disappears from sight! Also the month view does not show a bold
date but the reminder tracks it and will remind me later!

What view do you you have set on the calendar?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, mpb asked:
