Send a meeting request without scheduling

I want my boss to know I'm attending a meeting, but I don't want him to
schedule the time on his calendar.  Can I use the Optional attendee for this
or is there another way to do this?  Outlook 2000.

A better method would be to forward him a copy of your saved appointment.
