I'm trying to download an axcel file directly to my outlook calendar. When
prompted, I unsuccessfully begin to download a translator. The web page tells
me to use comma seperated values. Why does the error occur?

What is the file you are trying to import?  Are the fields mapped to match
Outlook? If it is a contacts file, try this:

Create a few contacts with the appropriate fields populated. Export it to a
.csv file.  Open the one you created and compare to the one you want to
import.  Massage your Excel file to match - note: Outlook does not
import/export custom fields.
