Users can see all details of my appointments

When somebody of our workgroup wants to invite me for a meeting, he or
she can see all the details of my other appointments or meetings (I
don't mean private appointments, details can't be seen). Of course, I
don't want and I did not give this person the right myself. But
strange, there are other co-workers, who cannot see the details. Now I
would like to know: could it be that the rights were given by using
the exchange server manager and how could this be done (maybe it is
default?)?

Thanks for any answer.

Lance,

I just noticed that I posted about the same issue (on the same day). I
KNOW there must be a way to alter this... when I look at the free/busy
calendars of many users to schedule a meeting, many of them have their
details hidden, while several others (including me) have theirs
available. Our IT folks have been working on this for some time, and
they can't figure it out.

One work-around is to render all appointments "private"; at that point,
the only thing others see on my calendar is "private appointment."
I hope that someone can help us decipher this one!

Check the permissions of your calendar that the default and anonymous users
have permissions level of none.  If it's set correctly there also check the
permissions at your mailbox level.

I'm haven't been involved in all the troubleshooting here but we had some
permissions issues as well.  Either as a result of moving from Exchange 5.5
to Exchange 2000, a difference in how the permissions are used because of the
move, or we just had bad documention for our users and they weren't setting
up sharing properly.  Now with our upgrade to Outlook 2003 with the details
features in meeting planner it brought to light we had a problem.

Hi Milly,

Does this not effect only the client viewing?  If I do this, I can no longer
see other's details, but they can still see mine.

The folder permissions at the Calendar level are, default and anonymous none.
I have followed your advice and unchecked the planner options.  Folks can
still see the details in my free/busy.

Any other nuggests of wisdom ol' wise ones?

Kisses,
The Schnugglebunny from T.O.

It just took a restart of the clients...

To sum it all up:

right click the calendar, properties, permissions, make sure default and
anonymous are set to NONE

Restart publishing and viewing clients.

I tried what you suggested Snugglebunny but that only seems to effect me
being able to see other's calendar details.  Thye can still see my details.
I think that the control of whether or not someone else can see my details
should be up to me not up to them.  Because when they can see the details,
they can just double click on an event detail box and then modify or delete
that event that is in my mailbox on the Exchange server.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Restart publishing and viewing clients", but
I closed Outlook on their machines and that didn't help.  What am I missing?

Thanks,
Greg

In Outlook, Tools->options->calendar option->planner options->show calendar
details in grid.  Uncheck this.  Close and restart Outlook.  (ensure Outlook
actually closes).

Milly,

I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly or what but what you suggest
doesn't work.  We are running Exchange Server 2003 on a Windows 2003 Server
and using Outlook 2003.  If I do as you suggest, I can no longer see the
details of other user's calendars while scheduling a meeting but they can
still see (and edit) my details if they try to schedule a meeting.  I have
exited and restarted Outlook several times and rebooted several time (both my
machine and the other user's) and I still get the same results.  What is the
proper way to keep other's from viewing (and editing) my details?

Thanks,
Greg

What are the default permissions set in ADUC?

Where do I find the default permissions? On the "Security" tab or on the
"Exchange Advanced" tab and the "Mailbox Rights" button?

The "Security" tab shows several different groups (i.e. Domain Admins,
Administrators, Self, System, etc.) with varying permissions but the group
"Everyone" has no permissions.  There are no individual users listed.

The "Mailbox Rights" button/tab shows many of the same groups with the same
varying permissions.  However, on this tab, the groups "Everyone" and
"Anonymous Logon" has read permissions that I can't remove because it says
that they are inheriting their permissions.  How do I turn off their
inherited permissions?  They don't however, have change permissions that the
user's seem to have because they can open the details of an event/appointment
and make changes to that event/appointment.  What do I do next?

Thanks,
Greg
