How can I send appointments to a user with OL 2000?

I'm using Win XP and OL 2002. When I send New Appointments to a user who has
Win XP and OL 2000 he only gets the appointment as a text. He can't select to
accept the appointment, decline or suggest a new time. It only comes as a
info mail to his inbox. Is there any solution to this issue?

When he sends new appointments to me - it works just fine. I'm able to
accept the appointment and it automatically gets saved in my calendar.

Any suggestions?

Microsoft offers a hotfix for Outlook 2000 to improve its compatibility with
iCal/vCal 2.0 meeting requests. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823199 . Alternatively, have Outlook
2002/2003 senders avoid using reminders in the meeting requests they send to
Outlook 2000 recipients.

I tried removed the tick in the Reminder box - but it still came in just pure
text email... will try with the fix aswell.

The other solution is to not use iCalendar at all but send the item as a
regular Outlook meeting request. This is a bit more complicated, as you need
to set the recipient's address for rich-text format and turn off iCalendar
at leaswt for that meeting requewst.
