Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003.  I want to send a meeting request to a group
of people but I am not required to attend, therefore do not want it taking up
space in my calendar.

Try this:

Make the meeting, click the Scheduling Tab and take yourself off the list of
attendees BEFORE you email it to them.

even if you take your own name away before sending, it comes back and you
have meeting in your calendar.
Try this: send meeting request and after that, change your own
calendarmeeting as free. If you have to update time for that meeting, you
still have it in your calendar.
Or after sending request, delete your own, don´t send update to others.
