I am currently using Windows Xp with SP2.  I have set Outlook 2002 to start
in Calendar but each time it starts it starts in Inbox.  I have checked
everywhere on the net for a solution but nothing I try seems to work?

On the start menu shortcut, edit it to start in the calendar.  I believe it
is set by default to start in the in-box.
